A census is another invaluable source of information.
A census is taken every ten years. The first useful census for research is the one carried out in 1841, any earlier ones did not hold any information we can use. There are currently seven census’s available due to the 100 year rule where they are closed until a hundred years have passed. Therefore, the next available census will be the one for 1911, but its still a number of years away from being available unless the government chooses to change the rules. |
